G's Favourite Spots in Copenhagen

Heading to Copenhagen this Summer? I have got you covered with my list of recommendations from my recent visit with my sister!
First up, let's talk food. Really good food.
Food Markets

In terms of food markets, Copenhagen has got wonderful choices. On our first day we headed to Torvenhallerne situated right by Nørreport Station. This is an incredible food market with such a vast choice. We settled for a healthy option by choosing salad bowls made by SMAG. Super fresh, delicious and nutritious.
Another great outside food market spot is Broens Gadekøkken, perfect for a sunny afternoon. From pasta to bao buns to aperol spritz - the world is your oyster. We actually only got coffee here as we were passing by but next time I go back to Copenhagen, you most definitely will be finding me here. 10/10 views looking into Nyhaven and you can also spot the Black Diamond here too.
Coffee Shops/ Bakeries
I actually stumbled across Juno The Bakery. I had seen it on Instagram but wasn't sure if I was going to get round to it. It had a really long queue outside so that only meant good things and boy, it was worth it. When you enter, you can see the bakery in full production mode through a large glass window, which I thought was a really cool touch. I purchased a Cardamon bun and it was unreal. No more words needed.

My sister was keen to head to Apotek 57 another very popular breakfast/ lunch spot in Copenhagen. We just picked up a coffee here but the sandwiches were calling my name. Definitely worth a visit if you are heading there soon.
Lunch Spots
My sister and I had probably the best ceasar salad (ever) at Cafe Pixie – they had a large range of lunch/brunch items on the menu. I was really tempted by the Croque madame... but decided to opt for something a little lighter instead. Cafe Pixie is situated in Bopa Plads – Østerbro which lined us up perfectly for an afternoon of shopping around the area.

Lunch at Oranje

Nyhaven in itself is worth visiting for the gorgeous array of colourful houses situated along the canal. We actually had lunch here at a little barje restaurant called Oranje. A small menu but if you are into your SMØRREBRØD or nordic cuisine, a perfect spot with a stunning view.
If you have read any influencers food guide to Copenhagen, then you will already be familiar Delphine. My sister and I ate here for dinner and the food was great and it had very cool interiors! Especially the bathroom - definitely be sure to check this out. As a sharing plate concept styled restaurant we ordered a substantial amount of plates of the menu (oops) including grilled prawns, chicken skewers, tuna ceviche and more. Every dish was so delicious but, we received it all at once instead of staggered which we were a bit confused/disappointed with. Therefore the meal was quite rushed and we weren't able to finish our plates because we literally hadtoo much food on the table! I would really recommend Delphine though as it had a great atmosphere and decor.

The following evening, my sister had picked Circolo. I would say if you are a true foodie, you should definitely aim to go here. A true tuscan restaurant with delicious yet simple italian food at it's heart core. A limited menu but my sister and I shared Brushetta with soffrito and also mackerel crostini. I followed this by ordering a slow cooked duck parpedelle ragu. *Chefs Kiss* A beautiful selection of wine, a buzzy atmosphere and very kind staff.
Last but not least, my sister and I dined at Botega Barlie which was actually our favourite meal. I always love to share dishes when I go out and so does my sister, so we work well together at Botega Barlie. We shared their Stracciatella dish with peas on top to start, alongside some perfect sourdough bread. Then we ordred Padron peppers, pork tacos and baked cod. There were no rules. It was just delicious! Washed down with an rganic wine called Un Grain de Folie. Stunning.
Highlights To See and Do
My sister organised a Canal trip with Hey Captain this was really fun way to see the city, we had a very knowledgable english speaking captain and you also can get drinks on board (tripple win).
The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid Statue

Meat packing district/ Vesterbro, I found this a very cool to go and visit. There are also a load of great places to eat around here e.g Mother (pizza) / Warpigs (Brewery/ burgers etc)
I insisted on going to visit The Little Mermaid statue - as expected very touristy but nevertheless, a lovely walk to get there and a great start to the morning.
I also was intrigued to visit Freetown Christiania, to see what it was like. It was super interesting as it is legal in this area to buy and smoke cannabis which is illegal in the rest of Denmark. I had never really experienced a town quite like it but my sister and I just walked around but you can still appreciate the street art as the people who live their often decorate their homes with all sorts of creative decor.
My Top Shopping Areas:
Strøget – the main area with classic shops e.g Zara – on Sunday the shops don’t open until quite late – 11/12pm I believe so watch out for that! We got caught out on this and it was our last day, so a slight shame. There are some cool vintage shops down side streets around The Round Tower and cute coffee shops! Ganni and the Hay store are around this location and definitely worth visiting!
Østerbro – We LOVED this area! Amazing shops running all the way down Østerbrograde (roadd):
  • Edie – a cute clothes shop
  • Boii Studios – The coolest co-ords, I had to physically remove my sister from this store.
  • Second – Vintage/Second Hand Clothes – so cool wish we had more time here!
  • Voigt
  • Bahne – A concept store / fashion/ interiors etc
  • Nørrebro – A selection of Cool Vintage/ Second Hand Shops
  • Nyhaven – Store Strandstræde / Lille Strandstræde – cute little side streets
I would say shops don't stay open that late, especially on weekends so try to get your shopping done in the morning!
I hope this little guide helps! Let me know if you go to any of my recommendations!
Love, G x
